the heidelberg catechism

Written in 1563 for the Reformed church of the Palatinate and adopted across Europe, the Heidelberg Catechism teaches the faith in 129 questions and answers under three headings: guilt, grace and gratitude. Its first question, 'What is your only comfort in life and in death?', sets a pastoral tone unusual among confessions.
